To those who haven’t heard, the SciFi channel is changing its name. What to?
Syfy.
It’s still pronounced “Sci-Fi.” The primary reason is being able to copyright stuff.
I don’t really have an issue with it. I mean, it is pronounced the same. It’s not like the channel’s being cancelled.

I though it kinda looked like a cutesy nickname for syphilis.

Apparently it means “scum” and “total bloody mess” in Polish. As well as slang for syphilis.
And they’re keeping it as “Sci-Fi” in Poland.
