I always wanted to draw comics but I think I was 21, maybe just turned 22, when I said; “That’s it: I’m doing it!”, got off my ass and started taking it seriously.
I had been working in construction for the summer/spring paying off money that I used to get through my last year of art college. I realised I was getting depressed and couldn’t figure out why til it hit me; I wasn’t making anything. I had nothing to show for the past 6 months and that really got me down. That’s when I realised if I really wanted to make it in comics, I had to get my act together and start working on a portfolio.
